Instructions for Loading Maps on your GPSr Using IMG2GPSYou will need to download both the St. John Map.img, the Ossipee Map.img, and the Display.typ files to a folder on your computer where you can find them. You will also have to download the IMG2GPS program. If you have the CD that came with your GPSr, put it in your computer and load the drivers for your unit. If you don’t have the CD, your computer must have access to the internet and it will search for the needed drivers and load them when you turn on the GPSr. Your computer will probably prompt you to do this. If all else fails, you can download the drivers from the Garmin web site. Connect your GPSr to your computer using a USB port cable (a serial port connection can be used but is MUCH slower) and turn the GPSr on (it is best use the unit in the GPS off mode. On the GPS startup page push “MENU” and then push “ENTER” when the “Use with GPS Off” command is highlighted.) Run the IMG2GPS program. You should see a screen similar to this. ![]() Sample Screenshot In the upper left corner click on “LOAD FOLDER” and go to the folder where you saved the .img and .typ files. You should see the 3 files listed. Click on OPEN. Check the boxes next to each file to load the map or maps you want. Remember to check the “GPS Display” file so the features on the map are displayed properly. If you check all 3 boxes, you will have the St. John and the Ossipee map on the GPSr. Push the “UPLOAD to GPS” button and you should be done. If nothing seems to happen, push the “Test GPS Connection” button at the upper left of the screen to make sure the computer and GPS are talking to each other. You can check and view the map on the screen of your GPSr by moving the cursor to the location of the map (NH or USVI) and zooming in on the rectangle where the map is. Don’t push the “Erase GPS” button or you will loose the base world map that came with your unit and I think you will have to take it to a dealer or send it back to Garmin to have it restored.
